This auction is for a 1942 U.S. Navy Schrader Mark V diving helmet, shoes, suit, and wrench. The helmet is in very good condition for its age. It retains approximately 80% of its original tinning as well as the non return valve and telephone connection cap. The shoes are standard Navy diving shoes that are in very good condition for used diving shoes. Canvas tops, leather reinforced heels, brass toes, lead soles, leather straps with brass buckle and rope laces. The diving suit is in excellent condition. It shows no tears or signs of wear or patches. The suit is lightly soiled in a few spots. I have not tried to clean it. The suit is as supple as a new suit and it is possible that the suit has never been used. The wrench is a standard bronze or brass tee style used for the helmet wing nuts. The stand in the photo is not included in the auction. The Schrader Diving Equipment Company was making diving apparatus as early as 1849 in New York City and continued until 1952 when it was sold.
